STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Traditionally girls do not choose STEM academics as their first choice, this may stem from gender-based stereotypes and societal expectations of females. Statistics show that many Caribbean female students outperform males in CAPE and CSEC STEM academics.
